CHRISTMAS STORY “There is a story I want to tell you… Yesterday I was helping out at Elizabeth’s Bookshop South Terrace. Meeting and greeting customers from 40 years ago at our first Nedlands shop in 1973, showing the flag, doing the Public Relations thing, being Lizzie a.k.a. ‘Elizabeth’ of bookshop fame, etcetera…
Then an elderly lady came to the counter to buy an $8.80 secondhand novel. “Would you gift wrap it, please?”, she asked. Of course I would and wrote a gift card as well.
“It’s so I have a present to open on Christmas Day”, she said. “It will stop me reading the book before Christmas and I will have a present on Christmas Day.”
I won’t tell you the rest of the story, because it will reduce me to tears.
But if you know someone who needs a Christmas Present on Christmas Day because nobody else will give them one, BLOODY WELL LET US KNOW NOW AND WE WILL COURIER THEM A BOOK OVERNIGHT FREE-OF CHARGE!
It’s the least YOU can do and the least WE can do this Christmas.
